Amity School of Hospitality, Amity University Haryana, Gurugram conducted online lecture on Basics in Tourism and Hospitality  Research on 8th May 2020 by Dr. Rahul Pratap Singh Kaurav – Expert in Tourism & Hospitality Research, PIM, Gwalior. The main aim of the event is to provide education with respect to key insights, core concepts and skills that are needed to conduct and publish high quality research in general. The students were able to understand the set of skills required to undertake the research very effectively in the disciplines of tourism and hospitality. This webinar was designed to offer the practical guidelines and direct the students through basic stages of research from identifying a research problem to the submission of a dissertation, report writing and research article. Now, the students are expected to develop conceptual clarity and practical knowledge to undertake quality research and writing good research reports, field-reports and project proposals etc. in future. 

Dr. Rahul Pratap Singh Kaurav – Expert in Tourism & Hospitality Research, PIM, Gwalior mentioned in his speak about several main research areas in hospitality & tourism industry such as Hospitality and Hotel Management, Tourism Management, Tourism Economics and Financial Management, Convention and Events Management and Hotel and Tourism Technology Management. Hospitality and Hotel Management refers professional management techniques used in the hospitality sector and it consist of research areas such as Hospitality and Customer Satisfaction, Tourism and Hospitality Marketing, Hospitality Management, Marketing and Service Quality Management, Foodservice Consumer Choice and Services Strategies, Strategic Management in the Hospitality Industry, Hospitality Marketing and Service Experience and Human Resource Management.

Tourism Management concerns with the planning and management of travel and tourism and consist of research areas such as Cultural Tourism, Tourism Education, Tourism Labor and Employment, Tourism Planning and Development, Transportation and Travel and Tourist Behavior and Psychology. He added

He spoke in detail about Tourism Economics and Financial Management comprise planning, organizing, directing and controlling finance for travel and tourism. It includes research areas such as Tourism Demand Forecasting, Tourism Impact Assessment, Competition Issues in Tourism and Financial Management for the Hotel and Tourism Industry.

In his concluding slide, He spoke on Convention and Events Management consists of research areas such as Convention Industry Management, Service Strategies and Education, Convention Destinations, Convention Tourism and Convention and Exhibition Management. Hotel and Tourism Technology Management includes Hotel and Tourism Technology Management, Information Technology and Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism, and Information Technology for Tourism.

 35 students participated in the webinar and more than 10 faculties from the department.
