Liberal Arts as a field was initially conceived of as a "broad exposure to the outlines of knowledge" for its own sake, the later-day thinking had put Liberal Arts education with focus on Language, Culture, and the Arts where the basic idea is to think of novel concepts, ideas, designs, products, topics, and how to put these into a written form. Here, ‘Thinking’ and ‘Writing’ are intertwined that the ability to critically examine any idea or proposal, and to write about one’s points of view clearly and cogently. Amity Centre for Linguistic Studies (ACLiS) fills in this gap that had remained in AUH so far. In the next two decades - given the advancement of knowledge and practices in AI, it is also assumed that a good number of traditional disciplines will have to have new borders or contours and a lot of soft skills will become redundant. AUH, as the university of the future, therefore, thought about setting up Amity Centre for Linguistic Studies (Acronym: AcLIS)
