An Awareness Program on Sugar and Mental Health

An Awareness Program on Sugar and Mental Health was organised by AICP on 9th April 2026. It sought to educate participants about the impact of excessive sugar intake on mental health, including its effects on mood, stress, anxiety, depression, cognitive functioning, and overall emotional well-being.

The programme “Sugar and Mental Health” aimed to create awareness about the relationship between dietary habits, particularly sugar consumption, and psychological well-being. The programme also aimed to promote healthy lifestyle practices, encourage preventive approaches, and sensitize participants to the importance of nutrition in maintaining mental health. Additionally, it sought to foster community awareness and empower individuals to adopt healthier dietary behaviors through psychoeducation, self-monitoring, and informed decision-making.

The programme “Sugar and Mental Health” was successfully conducted at Earth Saviour Foundation, Bandhwari, Gurugram, and provided participants with valuable insights into the connection between nutrition and mental well-being. The interactive discussions, practical examples, and participant reflections enhanced understanding of how excessive sugar consumption can influence emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning. The session effectively highlighted the psychological consequences of unhealthy dietary patterns and emphasized the need for early identification, prevention, and lifestyle modifications. Through awareness-building, psychoeducation, and community-oriented discussions, participants were encouraged to adopt healthier habits and promote mental health within their social environments. Overall, the programme achieved its objectives of increasing awareness, encouraging preventive action, and fostering a holistic understanding of the role of nutrition in psychological well-being.
