World No Tobacco Day-26 by AICP was organised on 20 May 2026. The one-day programme organized on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of tobacco addiction, its symptoms, causes, psychological theories, treatment approaches, relapse prevention, and community-based intervention strategies.
The programme sought to create awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use, promote early identification and prevention, reduce stigma associated with addiction, and encourage participants to adopt a service-oriented approach towards tobacco cessation and community mental health. It also aimed to provide practical insights through expert discussions conducted by Dr. Mehfooz Ahmad, Ms. Sukirti, Ms. Natasha, Clinical Psychologist, and Mr. Jas Kalra, President, Earth Saviour Foundation, Gurugram
Through discussions on symptoms, etiology, treatment, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and community sensitization, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of effective tobacco cessation strategies and the importance of early intervention. The sharing of clinical experiences by trainees further strengthened practical learning and reinforced the role of social support, positive attitudes, and evidence-based treatment in recovery.
