Prof. (Dr.) Santosh Pal Singh holds an extensive academic portfolio, beginning with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Zoology, followed by M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Zoology with specialization in Entomology from Aligarh Muslim University. He further pursued an M.Sc. in Forestry from Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun, and an M.A. in Sociology from H.N.B. Garhwal University. He also holds a Diploma in Business Administration from IGNOU, and an international M.Sc. in Geo-informatics & Earth Observation (specialization in Geohazards) from the University of Twente (ITC), Netherlands and IIRS, Dehradun. His multidisciplinary qualifications blend biological sciences, forestry, geospatial technologies, and social sciences, offering a well-rounded foundation for integrated environmental research and policy.
Prof. Singh is a 1983 batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of the Assam–Meghalaya cadre and has over four decades of experience in forestry, wildlife conservation, biodiversity management, and natural resource governance. He has held senior positions such as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Assam), Dy. Director (Project Tiger, MoEF), Managing Director (APCDC Ltd.), Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Registrar and Scientist ‘SE’ (WII), and Professor (IGNFA). His assignments have included strategic planning, wildlife monitoring, eco-development, disaster management, biodiversity policy formulation, and leading interdisciplinary projects across India. He has also served in administrative leadership roles such as Secretary, ICFRE and Deputy Director General (Admin.), ICFRE (HQ), Dehradun. His international assignments and training have taken him to Kenya, Tanzania, UK, Australia, Spain, Canada, and Netherlands.

Prof. Singh's research interests lie at the intersection of biodiversity conservation, wildlife ecology, forest resource management, and geo-spatial applications in environmental monitoring. He has extensively worked on carbon stock assessment, forest degradation, tribal livelihoods, and socio-economic impacts of forest rights implementation. His research integrates remote sensing and GIS to address real-world challenges such as geohazards, habitat monitoring, land use dynamics, and ecosystem services valuation. He is particularly focused on community-based conservation, sustainable resource utilization, and climate-resilient forest management strategies, aligning ecological integrity with human development goals.
Prof. Singh is passionate about teaching subjects that connect natural sciences with technology and policy. His teaching interests include Wildlife and Biodiversity Management, Forest Ecology, Remote Sensing and GIS Applications, Environmental Impact Assessment, Forest Policy and Governance, and Community-Based Natural Resource Management. He emphasizes interdisciplinary and applied learning, guiding students through practical, field-based, and project-oriented modules. At Amity University, he mentors students in Geo-informatics, Earth Observation, Environmental Modelling, and Geohazard Risk Assessment, aiming to prepare professionals for emerging challenges in natural resources and sustainable development.
