Dr. Prakash has a B.Sc. in Zoology, a P.G. Diploma in Journalism from Delhi University, and a Masters in Mass Communication from GJU of Sc. & Tech., Hisar. He has earned his Ph.D. from MGAHV, Department of film & theatre in 2017 in the area of Film and Media Management. He was also awarded the Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Award 2009-10 & 2019-20 by the Police Research and Development Bureau, Home Ministry, Govt. of India and received 2nd prize for research paper presentation at National Student Academic Congress-2016 organized by Delhi University.
Rakesh Prakash has industry experience of around 17 years during which he served in various capacities. He was a producer with Zee News wherein he produced news-based programs including Zee Helpline, Crime Reporter, Honi Anhoni, Bhoot Bangla, The Inside Story, and Zee Ananya Samman. While working with the ZEE news desk & programming team, he also produced different types of news bulletins – from positive news to controversial stories based on the socio-political scenario of the nation. Dr. Prakash has also worked as a copy editor with ETV, Hyderabad, and a sub-editor with an online edition of the Dainik Jagran.

He also has diverse experience in the media – consultant for Hiremee, Bangalore & www.frontnewstoday.com, New Delhi; Reporter and News Reader with All India Radio, New Delhi; Assistant Editor with DD News, New Delhi; empaneled Editor with Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture, ICAR, New Delhi, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pant Nagar, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and a writer for Press Information Bureau (PIB), New Delhi & IWAI, Noida. Dr. Prakash was a member of the board of studies, Department of Performing Art (Film & Theatre), MGAHV (Central University), Wardha, and syllabus review committee (Media Studies) of Institute of Research Development & Training (IRDT), Kanpur for Govt. Polytechnic College of Uttar Pradesh.

Dr. Prakash participated as a resource person on different media and communication-related issues in the various webinar. Published research paper in UGC Care list and Scopus index journal. He has also authored 2 books- Cyber Forensic and Growing Tendency of Violence for Solution of Genuine Problem Published by BPRD, New Delhi. Written feature & articles for print and different news websites. Interviewed cricketer Ajay Sharma, Chess Grandmaster Pravin Thipsey, Theatre artist Sanjana Kapoor, American social activist Dev Makkar, Pakistani Singer Adeel Burqi and famous cardiologist Dr. Naresh Trehan.
His core academic interest is in the area of television programming, newsroom operations, media management, electronic media research, and documentary film-making. He is also a writer who likes to explore new cultures.
