With the visionary leadership of Amity Universe, the Amity Hydrogen Mission (AHM) was launched in January 2025 as a mission-mode initiative to position Amity as a national leader in whole Hydrogen value chain Research, Innovation, Scaling up of Technologies with the support of Industry integration and International Collaboration via Research and Education Initiatives.
The Mission is strongly backed by the Amity Hydrogen Research Group - a dynamic network of 35+ researchers, including prestigious national fellows, Ramanujan Fellows, international postdoctoral scientists, and interdisciplinary experts across science, engineering, policy, and AI/ML. Working in a coordinated mission-mode framework across Amity’s pan-India university ecosystem, the group drives integrated research, innovation, and deployment across the hydrogen landscape.
The Mission is strategically aligned with the Government of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and is designed to contribute meaningfully to India’s transition toward a clean, secure, and self-reliant energy future.
Vision
Amity to emerge as a nationally recognized hub for Green Hydrogen research, technology development, pilot deployment, start-up incubation, and skilled workforce creation - fully aligned with India’s clean energy ambitions.
Mission Objectives
With a presence across 12 Amity Universities in India, Amity Hydrogen Mission brings together interdisciplinary expertise from science, engineering, policy, economics, and AI/ML - creating one of India’s most integrated hydrogen research ecosystems.
High-impact peer-reviewed publications across the hydrogen value chain, demonstrating strong scientific depth in production, storage, utilization, and advanced materials research.
Major nationally and internationally funded projects driving translational hydrogen research from lab-scale innovation to pilot-scale validation.
Filed intellectual property in green hydrogen production, advanced membranes, electrocatalysis, storage systems, and scalable clean energy technologies.
A multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, policy experts, economists, and AI/ML specialists enabling integrated hydrogen ecosystem development.
From advanced materials and green hydrogen production to storage, utilization, safety, AI-driven optimization, and pilot-scale deployment, Amity delivers integrated solutions — not isolated research.
Backed by strong collaborations with leading European institutions such as University of Oulu and Lakehead University, Amity actively participates in joint research, mobility programs, and co-funded international hydrogen projects.
With a coordinated hydrogen research network across 12 Amity Universities in India, we combine interdisciplinary expertise at national scale — creating one of India’s most integrated academic hydrogen ecosystems.
Amity is actively collaborating with world-leading European hydrogen research initiatives, including transformational programs such as H₂FUTURE - a flagship climate solution project at the University of Oulu focused on sustainable hydrogen production and decarbonization of heavy industries. Additionally, our partnership with Lakehead University further strengthens our engagement with cutting-edge hydrogen research and deployment paradigms emerging from European innovation ecosystems.
