Nipunika Shahid has been an active broadcast professional for over 20 years now. She has spent 9 years in various news channels and for the past 11 years she is delivering with excellence at Amity School of Communication. Her expertise and experience is in TV and Radio Journalism. At All India Radio (Akashvani), she is an international news reader. Her national and international English news bulletins can be heard often on FM GOLD and WWW.AIRWORLDSERVICE.ORG. In her initial years, she produced talks on current affairs for the general overseas programs of AIR.
Ms Shahid has learnt the fundamentals of print while working with The Hindustan Times. She has also worked with prominent news websites. Her writings regularly appear in leading Hindi and English newspapers and magazines. Her TV journey started with Zee News. She later worked with ETV, ANI and Sahara Samay. Primarily, she has been an editorial person. However, she has also worked as a field reporter and at the desk. While reporting she has covered issues related to women and politics. Rigorous analysis of the day’s main news events was central to her desk’s initiative. Ms Shahid has also produced, scripted and anchored content for CEC UGC Vyas and Swayam projects. She has worked as a voice-over artist for news channels, and has lent her voice to Amity films, films for embassies, and government documentaries. Also, she has written articles for the Press Council Journal, reputed newspapers, magazines and websites. Recently, she was felicitated and honoured by the Bharat Vikas Parishad for her professional commitments in the field of journalism and for training budding journalists.
Ms Shahid has interviewed many famous personalities, prominent amongst them are late Sheila Dikshit and Sushma Swaraj, Margaret Alva, S. Jaipal Reddy, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Ashok Walia, B. C. Khanduri, Brinda Karat, Kiran Bedi, and NCERT Director Mr. J. S. Rajput. She has also participated in the anchoring challenges workshops conducted by CNN.
Her style of guiding students is mostly through rigorous training, with adequate mix of theory. She has designed the syllabus for many subjects and is well familiar with the tasks related to academics. During her course delivery, she focuses on training students about the actual functioning of a news channel and attempts to inculcate the sense of journalism among the students.
