Amity University Mumbai Had Organized Industrial Visit To JNPT

 As part of an academic program and experiential learning, Amity Business School of Amity University Maharashtra had conducted Industrial Visit at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) on 3rd December. MBA first semester students from different specialization such as MBA General, International Business, Marketing, and Banking & Finance participated in this industrial visit. Details about learning outcome is as under:

 
On 3rd December, 2019 (Tuesday) we reached at 11.00am at JNPT port. After completing document verification and security check, students entered JNPT operation area at around 11.45am. Mr. Ravi Garar (JNPT representative) explained about shipping operations for JNPT port, Dubai Port, and Australian port. 
 
The interactive session between students and representative remained very knowledgeable. It provides, details about port charges, pilot charges, different types of port operations, scanning of container etc. Following were major part of discussion:
 
1. JN Port container terminal that started operations in May 1989 with capacity of 1.5 Million TEUs. 
2. Nhava – Sheva International Container Terminal that started in April 1999 with capacity of 1.2 Million TEUs. 
3. Gateway Terminals India APM Terminal which started in March 2006 with capacity of 1.8 Million TEUs. 
4. JNPT port also facilitates liquid cargo terminal of BPCL & IOCL which commissioned in February, 2002 with 6.5 Million tonnes capacity. Port is also having 13 Railway sidings with capacity of 27 container trains per day. 
 
MBA students of Amity Business School learned details about port operations by Central Government and other Private Port Operating Companies which are operating on lease of 30 years and providing services to import and export activities.
