Over 2900 graduands receive their degrees and diplomas during Convocation 2019 at Amity University

 Over 2900 graduands of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Journalism Mass Communication, Fine Arts, Fashion Technology and other domains received their degrees, diplomas and certificates during Convocation 2019 held at Amity University Noida campus today.

On this occasion, Shri Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and. Mr Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India were conferred upon Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Philosophy. Prof. Narinder K. Mehra, Dr. C.G. Pandit National Chair was conferred upon Honorary Professorship by Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor and Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor of Amity University Uttar Pradesh.

Declaring the ‘Convocation 2019’ open, Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh shared that the journey of Amity with 120 students and presently there are over 1,75,000 students studying from across the globe under the umbrella of Amity Group of Institutions. He apprised that Amity has nurtured the students to be the most dedicated, loyal and honest professionals who are provided with best professional education along with values and sanskaar. Dr. Chauhan urged the graduands to stay humble in success, have humanity and help those in need. He asserted his belief that Amitians will work towards making the world a better place. He further assured the gathering that Amity is continuously thriving towards creating a foundation which will be a pride of the Nation.

Dr Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India expressed his gratitude for bestowing the honor upon him. He addressed the graduands as the future of Nation and said that the youth will shape the fundamentals of new India. He apprised that the young generation is blessed to be living in the time which offers several opportunities in numerous professions wherein the success is not dependent on marks percentage but on the person’s creativity and skills. Dr. Kumar advised the students to face the adversities with dedication and sincerity to reach the pinnacle of success.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Dr. Chandradeep Banerjee, Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said, “it is a matter of great pride to be an honorary cause recipient and a part of Amity Family.” Congratulating the graduands, he echoed the thoughts of Dr. Ajay Kumar that the youth has an important role to play in development of the nation. He asserted his belief in the inherited strength of the country and shared that the formidable challenges still faced are education and health. Dr. Banerjee lauded Amity for changing the landscape of Indian education system and being a forerunner in nation building. He advised the graduands to engage in profession which they have interest in, as working in a profession of choice will help in achieving success.

Dr. Banerjee shared four important factors to build ‘Modern India’ and remarked that Indian industries need to be more ethical, internationalized, technology focus and collaborative between industry-academia. He called upon the graduands to remember these factors while working towards nation building as they are soon to be engaged in the industry as professionals. 

Highlighting the pioneering achievements of Amity University in last academic year, Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that Amity has been rewriting and reshaping the educational benchmark under the able guidance of Founder President, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan and Chancellor AUUP. She remarked that Amity has a global footprint visions in which soon there will be an Amity University in every state of the country and a campus in every country across the globe. She apprised about the latest abroad campus being established at Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Dr. Shukla called upon the Graduands to go forth and keep the Amity flag high as they are the brand ambassadors of their Alma mater. She opined that it is the combination of professional excellence, personal experience and social consciousness that will make their way to success.

During the day, 50 Gold Medals, 58 Silver Medals, 40 Bronze Medals and 17 PhDs were awarded to the meritorious students
