 Amity University Jharkhand Organized a Seminar on Significance of Environmental and Citizen Journalism

In a precedent sight of awareness and relevance of citizen journalism in the wake of globalization, Amity University Jharkhand on 07.11.19 organized a seminar on the significance of environmental and citizen journalism in University premises.

The main objective of the event was that it is today’s need for the upcoming journalist and media students to make the citizen’s awareness in the era of smart phones to know the media laws and ethics before sending the information.

Guest speaker, Dr. Nitish Priyadarshi, Associate Professor in Department of Geology, Ranchi University guided the participants through presentations about certain environmental issues and said, "It's the sole responsibility of every single individual to act in a united way to preserve and protect our environment. Those who opt for environmental journalism as a career in the future have to primarily focus on rich content information, language and the area you target to highlight your issues among your concerned audiences".

Meanwhile, Mr. Rajendra Tiwari, Former State Editor, Hindustan said, "A citizen journalism is all about making hard efforts to report ground root cause to highlight certain issues around us because ground realism reporting is credible enough."

Adding on to the knowledge of the students, Prof. (Dr.) Raman Kumar Jha, Vice-Chancellor Amity University Jharkhand said “Truth is an authority, and a journalist should also be a generalist, with all sorts of general knowledge then only he/she can give his best efforts on any kind of issue or topic to be reported.”

The program was overall success and students learned about the worth of the environment and their incumbent efforts to make the world a better living place
