Amity University and University of Szeged, Hungary, Explore Joint Research in Sustainable Agriculture

Amity Food and Agriculture Foundation (AFAF), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida, in collaboration with the University of Szeged, Hungary, organised a virtual Indo–Hungarian Symposium on Agri-Food Innovation, Sustainability and Smart Technologies, bringing together approximately 100 participants to explore joint research, academic exchange and technology development.

The symposium featured 32 faculty presentations and 20 research-scholar e-posters across agricultural sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, food engineering and sustainable food systems, providing an international platform for research scholars from both universities to present their work, exchange ideas and explore future academic engagement. The major focus areas of the deliberations included microbial biopesticides, biofertilisers and biostimulants for sustainable crop production, nano-enabled seed priming and nutrient delivery, plant stress physiology and defence signalling, climate-resilient agriculture, functional foods, environmental and food safety, agricultural waste valorisation of agricultural and food-processing residues.

Highlighting he significance of the Symposium, Prof. (Dr.) Edit Mikó, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Szeged, Hungary, noted, “The symposium has highlighted several areas in which the complementary expertise of the University of Szeged and Amity University can support meaningful scientific collaboration, advance sustainable agricultural practices and create new opportunities for academic exchange.”

Sharing his words of wisdom, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group, stated, “Amity has always believed in the power of knowledge, research and international collaboration to create a better future. Initiatives such as the Indo–Hungarian Symposium strengthen scientific cooperation across borders and encourage researchers to develop innovative solutions that benefit agriculture, food systems and the society.”

Speaking about the collaboration between the two institutions, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “Meaningful international partnerships are essential for advancing research, innovation and education. The Indo–Hungarian Symposium provides an important platform for bringing together complementary scientific expertise and developing collaborative solutions to global challenges in agriculture, food security and sustainability.”

Prof. (Dr.) Nutan Kaushik, Director General, Amity Food and Agriculture Foundation (AFAF), said, “We have identified promising areas for joint research, such as microbial biopesticides and biofertilisers, climate-resilient agriculture and agricultural waste valorisation during the Symposium. Our focus will be to translate these discussions into collaborative projects, joint publications and opportunities for young researchers.”

During the Symposium, Amity researchers presented their work on beneficial microorganisms, microbial consortia and biological crop-protection technologies, while researchers from the University of Szeged shared advances in the molecular and chemical characterisation of microbial metabolites and the development of biological control formulations. An Abstract Book containing 52 scientific abstracts was also released on this occasion. The symposium concluded with a roadmap for future cooperation, including joint research proposals, scientific publications, faculty and student exchanges, research-scholar interactions and exploration of international funding opportunities.
