On 27th August 2026, Amity School of Communication, Amity University Patna, organized a Guest Lecture and Alumni Connect Programme on “Journalism in the Age of Information Overload: Navigating Misinformation, Bias and the Search for Truth.”
The session was delivered by Ms. Simran Singh, alumna of the 2020 batch of Amity School of Communication, currently working as a Journalist and Subeditor with Firstpost’s World Desk. With prior experience at Hindustan Times and Times Network, she shared valuable insights into international reporting, digital journalism, and contemporary newsroom practices.
Ms. Singh highlighted the growing challenges of misinformation, disinformation, information overload, and confirmation bias, emphasizing the importance of fact-checking, source verification, editorial judgement, objectivity, and journalistic ethics. She encouraged students to critically evaluate information and uphold the pursuit of truth as a fundamental responsibility of journalism.
The programme concluded with an engaging interaction, where students gained practical insights into international reporting, newsroom practices, and career opportunities in the media industry. The session provided a valuable bridge between academic learning and contemporary professional journalism.
