The Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior, successfully organized community outreach program on A Meal of Mercy-Food Distribution Program on 06th June 2025 at Mangal Dham Old Age Home Thatipur, Gwalior

As part of the AmiCare: A Meal of Mercy – Food Distribution Program, Mr. Deepesh Parashar, Associate Professor, coordinator of the program from Amity University, met with Mr. Sisodia, the caretaker at Mangal Dham Old Age Home, Thatipur, Gwalior, to discuss the logistical and emotional needs of the residents. The meeting focused on establishing trust and understanding the nutritional challenges faced by the elderly. Following the discussion, ration & fruits were distributed to the elderly residents. The initiative, aligned with SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, aimed to spread compassion, address food insecurity, and promote student involvement in community welfare. The program also supports Poshan Abhiyaan-National Health Protection Mission.

In this program, Ration & fruits were distributed by the faculty members and the students. Mr. sisodia, Incharge & caretaker of Mangal Dham Old Age Home, provided exceptional support for conduction of this program.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Deepesh Parashar. It was organized by the Amity Institute of Pharmacy at Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior, under the leadership of Dr. Manoj Kumar Mishra, Director and Principal, and Dr. Mukesh Singh Sikarwar, Deputy Director, serving as the Convener and Co-convener respectively.

Aim & Objective of the Program

 

Aim: To address food insecurity among vulnerable elderly populations at Mangal Dham Oldage home Thatipur Gwalior and promote compassion-driven community engagement among students and faculty, in alignment with SDG 2: Zero Hunger.

Objectives:

1.     To Address Local Hunger Issues:Provide nutritious meals to the elderly residents of Mangal Dham Old Age Home who may face food insecurity or lack access to balanced diets.

2.     To Support Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger: Contribute towards ending hunger, achieving food security, and improving nutrition for vulnerable populations at the grassroots level.

3.     To Promote Social Responsibility Among Students:Encourage students to actively engage in community service, instilling empathy, compassion, and a sense of civic duty.

4.     To Enhance Community Engagement: Strengthen the bond between Amity University and the local community through meaningful outreach and service initiatives.

5.     To Raise Awareness About Elder Care and Neglect: Sensitize students and faculty about the challenges faced by the elderly in society, particularly in under-resourced old age homes.

6.     To Create a Culture of Volunteerism: Inspire sustained volunteer efforts and regular participation in service-oriented programs among the youth.

 

Details of the Programme

 

 

On June 6th, 2025, the Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior organized a community outreach program Mangal Dham Old Age Home, Thatipur, Gwalior. "AmiCare: A Meal of Mercy-Food Distribution Program " is a social initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity among elderly individuals residing in old age homes. As part of this initiative, students and Mr. Deepesh Parashar from Amity University visited Mangal Dham Old Age Home, distributing Ration, fruits and spending quality time with the residents. This initiative directly supports the goals of SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, while also promoting compassion, community service, and dignity for senior citizens.  Mr. Sisodia from the Mangal Dham Old Age Home provided crucial support. 

 

The event was coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Sharma and Mr. Deepesh Parashar, and organized by the Amity Institute of Pharmacy, the event was convened by Dr. Manoj Kumar Mishra, Director and Principal, with Dr. Mukesh Singh Sikarwar, Deputy Director, serving as the Co-Convener.
