Experts deliberate upon “Intellectual Property Rights” at Amity

Amity University Noida campus hosted a Special Interaction Session with Senior Officials of ASSOCHAM, including Mr. Nahid Alam Additional Director and Head IPR, Mr. Vijay Kumar Shivpuje, Advisor- IP Facilitation Centre, Mr. Yashpal, Assistant Director and Mr Ram Krishnan, Vice President of Engineering at Qualcomm’s Technology Licensing Division. The aim of the session was to promote Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and exchange of best practices in the field of Intellectual Property amongst Academicians, young Innovators and Startups.

Highlighting the significance of Intellectual Property Rights, Mr Ram Krishnan, Vice President of Engineering at Qualcomm’s Technology Licensing Division, averred, “It is always a pleasure to be amongst students since they are the future leaders of the country, and their mind is constantly innovating and thinking about novel ideas. Students should think about how their creative idea can be translated into a profitable business proposition. IP education is extremely crucial, and students must know how to protect their innovations, be it products or services, so that no one is able to copy them. Under the mission of Viksit Bharat @2047, startups are getting a lot of support from the government and businesses are thriving at a fast pace. When students become entrepreneurs and launch their own venture, they must file patents for their products or technologies. They must also aim to transfer the technologies to the industries so that it can be used for the benefit of the masses. When you have Intellectual Property, you have higher chances of finding venture capital funding, thereby helping in monetizing and licensing the business.”

Mr. Nahid Alam, Additional Director, Head IPR, ASSOCHAM, stated, “The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India ("ASSOCHAM"), is India's apex national Chamber since 1920 with members from all over the country across different industries which contribute towards India's economic growth and global presence. IP is one of the important areas for us, we provide mentorship to the innovators and hand hold them at every step. We also organize capacity building and awareness programmes for businesses and have organized 125 programmes for government MSMEs in rural areas.”
