Queen’s University Belfast, UK and Amity University explore research and academic collaboration
A delegation from Queen's University Belfast, UK, visited Amity University Noida campus to explore the potential opportunities for collaboration in the areas of Natural and Built Environment, Psychology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Prof Mohammed Sonebi, School of Natural and Built Environment, Queen’s University, stated, “Queen's University Belfast (QUB) founded in 1845, is a renowned Public Research University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. School of Natural and Built Environment would be glad to collaborate with Amity in the area of architecture and Built Environment, focussing on a sustainable future. We can explore Dual Degree, Students and Faculty Exchange and PhD Programmes to foster a strong academic and research collaboration in this area.”
Dr Gary McKeown, School of Psychology, Queen’s University, said, “Psychology is an emerging area of interest amongst the students since mental health issues have seen an upsurge since the pandemic. School of Psychology, Queen’s University has been accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and students are provided free membership of BPS during their studies at School of Psychology. More students are opting for Psychology now and it is an important area for us to collaborate.”
Dr Johnathan Browning, School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Queen’s University, averred, “Computer Science, Computing and Information Technology, Software Engineering, and Data Science are the areas where the two Universities must work together to foster research and innovation.”
Addressing the delegation, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “International collaboration is essential in advancing education, research, and global citizenship and we are excited to collaborate with a highly prestigious University of UK, Queen’s University. Both Amity and Queen’s University, aim to foster a collaborative relationship, promoting academic excellence and innovation, resulting in mutual benefit and long-term impact. The visit marks the beginning of a new chapter of a long-lasting association between the two Universities, which will drive positive change and push the boundaries of innovation.”
On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Vanita Ahuja, Director, RICS School of Built Environment presented a synopsis of the programmes offered by the institution, Prof. (Dr.) Ranjana Bhatia, Acting Director, Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences, presented an overview of Psychology and Allied Sciences and Dr. M.K. Pandey, Director, Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASET) presented a summary of the programmes offered by ASET. The delegation visited various research facilities of Amity including the high-tech laboratories.
