Amity School of Film and Drama (ASFD), Amity University Noida, hosted its first Film and Drama Festival, a vibrant celebration of cinematic and theatrical talent, from 25th to 28th March 2025, wherein over 800 students from 60 colleges participated.
The four-day Film and Drama Festival showcased Street Play Competitions, Group Dance Competitions, Stage Play Competitions and Film Screenings. In addition, students of ASFD presented their projects and held special interactions with Film Makers such as Ms. Shabani Hassanwalia, Ms. Samreen Farooqui and Mr. Raj Rachakonda. A theatrical highlight of the festival was the ASFD Theatre Production of Baaki Itihas, a classic play by Badal Sircar, directed by faculty member Ms. Sravasti Banerjee.
Sharing the mantra for being a successful film maker during the Valedictory Ceremony, Chief Guest Filmmaker Ms Sunaina Bhatnagar, averred, “In order to become a successful film maker, it is important to be true to yourself and believe in yourself. No one can advise you about what kind of films you should make, since everyone goes through their own journey in life and films are inspired by real-life incidents, which happen in the life of the film maker.” She advised the students to be passionate, persistent and work hard to achieve their dreams without getting demotivated.
News Anchor Ms. Ajita Jain, stated, “Amity School of Film and Drama has state- of- the- art infrastructure which is highly impressive. A good story is a simple story which tells the story of a common man, which is relatable. Creativity cannot be taught, it is inherent, inborn and instinctive. So be creative and passionate about the art of film making. Content is the king so work around the content and do your research thoroughly before making a film.”
Advising the students, Seasoned Journalist Mr. Tarique Faridy, said, “Do not make film-making your profession rather make it your passion. Film-making should come from your heart and commercial success should not be your only goal. Start with low-budget realistic films, which touch the hearts of the people and do not think about profit or loss. Commercial success will follow as you evolve as a film maker and start making big budget films.”
Prof. (Dr). Gagan Prakash Director, Amity School of Film and Drama, said, “This student-led initiative brought together the finest talent from across the city, aiming to provide young artists with a platform to showcase their creative expression. It was the first Film and drama Festival hosted by ASFD which also marked the grand inauguration of ASFD's state-of-the-art studios and facilities, designed to foster excellence in film and drama education. Film -making is too personal and it is all about conveying your own emotions and experiences.”
