Centre of Excellence for Tribal Development Centre, Amity University Gwalior, (AUMP) organized a Tribal Pride Day on 14/11/2024 with its faculty and students. The Celebration of Tribal Pride Day in 14 Nov 2024 includes a range of activities and events that honor his legacy and promote awareness of tribal culture, history, and social issues. Here’s a detailed outline of events that can be organized for the occasion:
1. Inauguration Ceremony
The celebration begins with an inauguration by a respected Prof. (Dr.) R.S Tomar, Offg. Vice Chancellor, AUMP, Gwalior.
  • Activities:
    • Lamp lighting ceremony.
    • Floral tribute to Birsa Munda's statue or portrait.
    • A brief keynote speech highlighting the significance of Birsa Munda’s contributions.
2. Educational Programs and Seminars
  • Educate people, especially students, about Birsa Munda’s life, the Ulgulan movement (The Great Revolt), and the history of tribal resistance.
  • Activities:
    • Speech by VC Sir and Students.
    • Panel discussions on topics like “The Legacy of Birsa Munda” and “Empowering Tribal Communities Today.”
    • Presentation of documentaries or short films about Birsa Munda’s life and the tribal independence struggle.
 
4. Cultural Programs and Performances
  • Celebrate the diversity of India’s tribal cultures through music, dance, and folklore.
  • Activities:
    • Traditional tribal dance performances, like the Chhau dance and Ho dance, to showcase the vibrant culture of the tribal communities.
    • Folk songs inspired by Birsa Munda’s legacy and the struggles of the tribal people.
 
5. Closing Ceremony
  • Conclude the celebration with a closing ceremony.
  • Activities:
    • Distribution of certificates and prizes to competition winners.
    • Final speech by organizers or community leaders.

·       Recognize and appreciate the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the tribal communities in India.
3. Empowering Tribal Communities
·       Promote policies and initiatives aimed at the social, educational, and economic upliftment of tribal populations.
4. Encouraging Sustainable Development in Tribal Regions
·       Address issues like deforestation, land encroachment, and loss of traditional livelihoods that affect tribal communities.
5. Commemorating Birsa Munda’s Legacy as a Freedom Fighter
·       Highlight Birsa Munda’s leadership during the Ulgulan (The Great Tumult) movement against the British, which focused on resisting oppressive laws and practices.
6. Encouraging Inclusivity and Social Harmony
·       Foster inclusivity by acknowledging the historical injustices faced by tribal communities and working toward greater social harmony.
