Workshop on AR &VR in the Fashion Industry
Amity School of Fashion Design & Technology (ASFDT), AUMP, organized a workshop on AR & VR in the Fashion Industry on September 27, 2024, in an online mode using MS Teams from 2:15 pm to 3:15 pm. The event coordinators were Mrs Madhavi Tomar, Assistant Professor, and Mr. Vishal Kumar, Training Specialist at ASFDT.
The workshop began with an introduction of the expert, Mrs Babita Bhandari, Assistant Professor and Course Coordinator of Textile Design at NIFT Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. The aim of organizing the workshop on Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) in the Fashion Industry was to raise awareness of technological advancements and the growing use of these technologies by fashion brands to address persistent issues with customer engagement, marketing, and sales.
The guest speaker, Mrs Babita Bhandari, provided an overview of how AR and VR are revolutionizing the fashion industry. Students gained a deeper understanding of how AR and VR technologies are applied in the fashion industry, including virtual try-ons, immersive shopping experiences, and fashion presentations. The workshop encouraged students to push the boundaries of conventional fashion design by integrating technology. It stimulated creative thinking and collaboration among participants, fostering a sense of community. Students gained insights into emerging trends and technologies in the fashion industry, preparing them for future career opportunities.
The workshop successfully met its objectives by providing a valuable educational experience that blended technology with traditional fashion design principles. The participants left with enhanced creativity and a greater appreciation for the intersection of art and technology in fashion. The workshop was very interactive, and students thoroughly enjoyed it. A total of 30 students participated enthusiastically. The outcome of the workshop emphasized the positive experiences and benefits derived from integrating AR and VR into the fashion education curriculum.
