Delegation from Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), Ministry of Railways, Govt. of India, visits Amity University
A delegation from Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), comprising of Shri GVL Satya Kumar, Managing Director, Centre for Railway Information Systems( CRIS), Ministry of Railways, Govt. of India along with senior officials, Smt. Poonam Kumari Saha, Technical Adviser to MD, Shri Pitamber Verma, Chief Project Engineer, and Shri Ankur Rastogi, Principal Project Engineer visited Amity University Noida Campus, to interact with faculty members and students on research problems and real projects, in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science , in the domains of Freight Movements, Signalling, Railway Reservations and Catering.
Addressing the gathering, Shri GVL Satya Kumar, Managing Director, CRIS, said, “CRIS is an organization under Ministry of Railways., which is a unique combination of competent IT professionals and experienced Railway personnel enabling it to successfully deliver complex Railway IT systems in core areas. Since its inception, CRIS has been developing and maintaining software for the following key functional areas of the Indian Railways. Realizing the power of modern emerging technologies, CRIS has introduced emerging technologies like Blockchain, AI, ML, Big Data, Business Intelligence, Cloud Services (private as well as public cloud), Agility, Chatbots, IoT, etc. to perform Train Route Optimizations, Capacity Enhancement, Prediction of Train Delays and Waitlist clearance, Predictive maintenance of Rail Assets, forecasting Energy Consumption, Train Timetable Optimization, etc., thus providing a new dimension to its solutions. “
Welcoming the guests, Dr. B.K. Murthy, Dean (Translational Research and Entrepreneurship Development) Science, Engineering and Technology, said, “The aim of the visit is to explore the participation of faculty and students in innovative application development in critical problems of CRIS, thereby having collaboratively come up with innovative solutions for real problems of Indian Railways.”
On this occasion, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President ASTIF presented the research initiatives of Amity University and Dr. M.K. Dutta, Director, Amity Centre for Artificial Intelligence, provided information about the recently launched Amity Centre for Artificial Intelligence. The Programme was attended by the students of Amity School of Engineering & Technology and Amity Institute of Information Technology.
