Dr. Prakash Chauhan, Scientist and Director, National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO Hyderabad visits Amity University to explore the potential areas of collaboration

 Amity Science Technology Innovation Foundation (ASTIF) and Amity Foundation for Science, Technology & Innovation Alliances (AFSTIA), Amity University Uttar Pradesh organised the visit of Dr. Prakash Chauhan, Scientist & Director at the National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, Hyderabad. The aim of the visit was to delve deeper into Amity’s strength in the areas of Remote Sensing and Space Technologies and discuss possible areas of collaboration with NRSC, Hyderabad.

 

Deliberating upon the Societal Benefits of Indian Space Programs, Dr Prakash Chauhan, Scientist & Director at the National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, Hyderabad, averred, “ISRO is working on various programs to provide solutions to the existing problems of food security, water security, climate change, and socio-economic security amongst others. NRSC would like to join hands with Amity in the areas of agriculture, disaster management, forestry and ecology, geo science, land use and land cover, soil studies, urban infrastructure, water resources, earth and climate studies, which will help in creating a better future for the country. This is just the beginning of a life-long association which will be mutually beneficial for both organizations, and we look forward to working closely with Amity.”

 Presenting an Overview of Amity Research Initiatives, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation, stated, “Amity aims to be the key growth driver in the area of scientific research and development of the country.  In alignment with this objective, Amity would be glad to collaborate with NRSC, ISRO in the areas of joint research, academics, joint conference and workshops, capacity building and outreach initiatives.”

 Also present on the occasion were Dr. Sameer Saran , Dy General Manager, Regional Remote Sensing Centre (North), NSRC New Delhi, Dr. A.K. Singh, Sr. Vice President, Amity Foundation for Science Technology and Innovation Alliance (AFSTIA), Prof. M S Prasad, Director, Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology, Prof. M K Dutta, Director, Amity Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Tanu Jindal, Amity Institute of Environmental Toxicology Safety and Management and other HOIs of Amity.


During the visit, Dr. Prakash Chauhan took a round of the campus and visited Amity Institute of Space Science and Technology (AISST), Amity Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Amity Institute of Renewable and Alternative Energy (AIRAE) and Amity Innovation and Design Centre (AIDC
