Amity School of Liberal Arts, Amity University Gurugram organized conference on International Yoga Day “An Initiative for Healthy and Harmonious Humanity” held on 21st June 2023
Amity School of Liberal Arts, in collaboration with Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya Haridwar and Haryana Yog Aayog, Government of Haryana, organized a remarkable conference titled "An Initiative for Healthy and Harmonious Humanity" to commemorate International Yoga Day on 21st June 2023. The conference aimed to celebrate the significance of yoga and promote a healthy and harmonious lifestyle.
The conference began with a Vedic invocation and the lighting of the knowledge lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of wisdom. The event witnessed an incredible turnout, with Yoga enthusiasts and professionals coming together to mark this special day. The theme for International Yoga Day 2023, "Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," encapsulated the collective aspiration for unity and a sustainable future for all.
The day commenced with an invigorating practical yoga session guided by expert instructors from Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya Haridwar. From 7:00am to 9:00am, participants engaged in various asanas and exercises, embracing the essence of yoga. This session set the tone for a day filled with rejuvenation and enlightenment.
Later in the afternoon, a thought-provoking seminar centered around yoga took place at Amity University Haryana. Dr. Sanjay K. Jha, the Director of Amity School of Liberal Arts and the head of Amity Centre for Sanskrit and Indic Studies, delivered the opening remarks. Esteemed speakers, including Yoga Guru Dr. Ramavatar, Jai Pal Shastri (Member, Haryana Yog Ayog), Dr. Rekha Singh (Yoga Guru from World Gayatri Pariwar), Dr. Madan Manav (Founder Director, Blissful Life), and Prof JK Mehta (Former Professor at AUH and a Yoga Mentor), shared their profound insights on the transformative power of yoga. Dr. Rekha Singh's presentation emphasized integrating yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda into daily life for holistic health and well-being. These enlightening sessions deepened participants' understanding of the multi-dimensional benefits of yoga.
Additionally, the conference featured research paper presentations by 24 eminent researchers of Yoga and Indian Knowledge System. These presentations expanded the knowledge of student participants, showcasing the diverse applications and holistic nature of yoga.
Professor P.B. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Amity University Haryana, delivered a thematic address, describing yoga as the "science of a happy, healthy, and blissful life." He highlighted how yoga and meditation, integral parts of our Vedic Sanatan spiritual civilization, promote peace, well-being, and perfection in our work activities.
Jai Pal Shastri, Member of Haryana Yog Ayog, expressed the significant role of Yoga in creating social harmony and empowering the youth of Haryana with universal human values.
Dr. Sanjay K. Jha, the program chair and Director of Amity School of Liberal Arts, expressed his satisfaction and appreciation for the success of the International Yoga Day celebration. He expressed gratitude to the participants, speakers, and collaborators for their valuable contributions.
The conference concluded with Maj. Gen. G. S Bal, DSW, delivering the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all involved in making the International Yoga Day celebration a resounding success
