Amity to mentor Republic of Gambia's Management Development Institute, to help transform it into a state-of-the-art Civil Services Institute

 A high-level delegation from “Republic of the Gambia”, comprising of six members- H.E. Mr. Mustapha Jawara, High Commissioner, Mr. Lamin Singhateh, Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Lamin Jawara, Permanent Secretary, Personnel Management Office, Mrs. Fatou Njie-Barry, Deputy Direct Général MDI, Mr. Muktarr M.Y Darboe, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology and    Mr. Buba Kinteh- Finance Attache, visited Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus.

The main purpose of the visit was to study the good practices which can be adopted to transform their Management Development Institute (MDI) into state-of-the-art Civil Services Institute of Gambia, which will enable the existing MDI to become a leading Institution in the country, providing high-quality education and training to civil servants and other public sector professionals. Keeping in view this agenda, Amity will be assisting MDI in this task of transformation to a full-fledged Civil Services Institute.

Lauding Amity University’s infrastructure and high quality of education, H.E. Mr. Mustapha Jawara, High Commissioner, Republic of Gambia, spelt out the reasons as to why they chose Amity and said, “Amity is not only a leading institution for education, but its cultural aspect is also highly commendable, which is evident from the warm welcome we received today at Amity. Over 500 Gambian students have been attending Amity’s online programs and have benefitted immensely from it. We strongly believe that Amity will help us achieve our goals by providing the right training and consultancy to our Management Development Institute and help to establish it as a full-fledged, state-of-the art institute.  Amity University and Republic of Gambia can also sign an MoU and outline the areas where we can collaborate and support each other. We look up to Amity as our mentor and are glad to invite Amity to launch its campus in the Republic of Gambia also.”

 

Presenting an overview of the Amity Education Group, Dr. Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities, said, “Amity has collaborated with various globally renowned institutions and Universities across the world since Amity believes in providing immense global exposure to its students. Africa is very close to Amity and Amity University has been running Pan Africa E-Network Projects, wherein more than 265 students have participated. Through mutual support, Amity and Republic of Gambia can start a new journey of educational excellence, by sharing knowledge and learning.”

 

Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation, stated, “Amity would like to collaborate with MDI in the areas of capacity building, skill development and research and innovation, which will foster strong ties between the two countries. Amity strongly believes in the philosophy of “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam”, which means “one earth, one family”, and therefore, committed to contribute to the scientific development of the world through various collaborations with reputed organizations and institutions.”

The members of the delegation interacted with the Head of institutions of Amity including Dr. Sanjeev Bansal, Dean FMS, Prof. Abhinash Kumar, Director, ADDOE and Brig. R.K. Sharma, Director, AITD, amongst others and took a round of the Amity Campus including the high-tech labs, Central Library and Amity Innovation Incubator.
