EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH SPIRITUALITY: FUSION OF ANCIENT PRACTICES AND MODERN MANAGEMENT

Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Science (AIBAS), Amity University, Uttar Pradesh organised an online Guest lecture on 10th July, 2020 with objective of nurturing, understanding and inculcating the lessons of spirituality. The speaker for this event was Ms. Brahmakumari Aditi Didi, Spiritual Leader and Spokesperson at Gyansarovar Academy, Brahakumaris, Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India

The speaker started the discussion by talking about “PROGRESS” that deals with our need and achievement of outer satisfaction. However, it fails to provide us inner peace that can be fulfilled by spirituality. Comparing women specifically mothers equal to 100 gurus the speaker averred that mother is a figure that is epitome of God as she is the creator who creates the foundation and supports till end of our life. For such a being it is important to realize spirituality to meet self. Connecting the topic to mythology, she also iterated some of the examples from ancient times where women were given importance by putting females ahead of males –Sita Ram, Radhe Krishna etc. But in today’s era women had established their role based on others expectation with them, not considering of what they demand and what is needed to make their to be peaceful.

The speaker further highlighted the direct proportion in the lack of spirituality and lack of respect that women expect from other stakeholders to whom she dedicates whole of her life. Due to the lack of respect the energy level decreases. It is very well visible in women that they lack sense of self-proclamation and appreciation thus perform their task as “HUMANS” but forget “BEING” that is an important aspect of providing happiness to self than the happiness for others.

The speaker reiterated that to attain spirituality it is important for us to choose a path that lead us to our road of peace – essence of life which can help women to get free from the cage of love that leads them to live for expectation of other people and choose their roles and life accordingly. Hence realize “Being”, realize the ‘energy’ and ‘power’ that lead to live your own life, happiness and consciousness. Live a conscious life not a virtual life. She further averred that once we are able to attain this stage i.e. the stage of spirituality, we are more calm, peaceful and lovable but it may abolish once we come to our role consciousness. To attain spirituality when we study self, self-introspect, take charge of our own minds and thoughts rather getting influence by other things of the world.

The session moved ahead wherein the speaker represented certain methods of practicing things in real life by not worrying about our work, starting day with peace, happiness and thanking the supreme power to bless us with this day and his supporting us throughout. Try to seek for good qualities of others that inspire us and provide positive energy to us so as to kick start our day on positive note. Aditi Didi practiced art of being calm by relaxing ourselves as a concluding note. She suggested opening new blank page of our life, filling it according to our needs, detaching from other humanly pleasure and focusing of self-emotion. Feel the place of a light beholding positive energy at the centre of our forehead and getting it spread through various channels in our body.

The lecture aimed at realizing the importance of ourselves, nature, family and all the wonderful creations of society. It talked about the gratitude that one should have for all the creations of the world. It was summed up by the vote of thanks by the Head of the Institute, Dr Harish Kumar who extended his heartiest gratitude to the speaker for enlightening, providing useful information, helping finding path for peace and appreciating her for putting their efforts to unite the system of this diverse society under the umbrella of spirituality.
