Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Sciences Workshop On "Modelling and Misconceptions in Science Education"

Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Sciences organized a workshop on "Modelling and Misconceptions in Science Education" on 27th Feb 2020.

Mr. Stephen Rhodes from Cambridge University was the facilitator of the workshop and is the Founder of Sensational Science, which works to find some innovative ways of how to teach science in classroom. Dr Harish Kumar Tyagi (HOI, AIBAS) welcomed Mr. Stephen and shared his views about science.

Mr. Stephen addressed the audience by explaining the meaning and need of Models in a teaching-learning process.  He reiterated that science is a very powerful source of understanding and talked about the misconceptions in science.

Mr Stephen demonstrated activities in class on the various concepts of science, including the concept of circuit, spectrum of light, digestion, circulatory system, tyndall effect and many more. He gave a hands-on experience to the students in conducting various experiments and used basic instruments to make science interesting such as, socks, utensils, bag, rods, sheets, ribbons etc.

Students participated with great zest in all the activities and learned a lot of teaching methods that they could use during their teaching. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks and a token of appreciation presented by Dr Harish Kumar Tyagi to Mr. Stephen Rhodes.
