Amity University Madhya Pradesh Celebrated 77th Independence Day on 15th August 2023

 Amity University Madhya Pradesh celebrated the 77th Independence Day of the nation with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 15th August 2023 in its serene and picturesque campus to commemorate the nation's liberation from colonial rule, which was achieved through the sacrifices and determination of countless Indian freedom fighters. The day has a deep historical significance, as it was on August 15, 1947, that India's tryst with destiny was realized, granting the nation the long-awaited freedom from British colonial domination.

 
The festivities of this auspicious occasion commenced with the unfurling of the Tri-Colour by Hon’ble Pro Chancellor AUMP, Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd.) The rendition of the National Anthem after flag hoisting invoked feelings of patriotism and the willingness to serve the country in all the students, faculty and staff of AUMP.
 
Hon’ble Pro Chancellor Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd) greeted the students, faculty and staff of the University on this historic occasion. He stated that it’s a moment of immense pride that today we are celebrating 77th Independence Day remembering the sacrifices of courageous freedom fighters who strived to liberate the country from British oppression. 
 
He further stated that India became 5th largest economy in 2022 and will be the third-largest global economy soon. Hon’ble Pro Chancellor also threw light on increasing foreign investments, the flourishing Indian economy and startups in India. He also talked about Aatmnirbhar Bharat and underlined that the great challenges of today like terrorism should be combated fearlessly.
 
In his address Hon’ble Pro Chancellor Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd) opined that to make India “Vishwa Guru”, we all must strive hard and share the spiritual legacy of India with the entire world.
 
The 77th Independence Day also marked the culmination of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, which commenced in 2021. As a part of the celebrations "Meri Maati Mera Desh" campaign aims to pay tribute to our beloved 'Motherland' and the courageous 'Veers' who have made the supreme sacrifice for our nation. To commemorate this, the “Mitti ki Shapath” and “Panch Pran” pledge was taken by all the dignitaries, faculty, staff and students of the University.
 
A vibrant cultural programme added flavour of patriotism to the celebrations of this auspicious day. The students from different departments of AUMP presented a cultural programme saluting the freedom fighters who had lit the torch of liberty. Giving a peek into the glorious past of India’s rich historical background, a series of performances showcased the efforts of freedom fighters and political leaders who laid down their lives for our Motherland. The programme was prepared under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Iti Roychowdhury, Director ASCENT, ASL & AISS and coordinated by Dr Shramita Pandey, Asst. Professor, ASL and Dr Keerti Sood, Asst. Professor, AISS. The programme was well appreciated by the audience.
 
As per the mandate of the Ministry of Education, a grand celebration of our nation's 75 years of independence through the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) initiative has been adopted by all Universities across the country. As part of this momentous occasion, the plantation drive was carried out in AUMP. 75 saplings were planted in the “Amrut Vatika” under the “Vasudha Ka Vandan” scheme, part of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” Campaign by the dignitaries, faculty, staff and students behind Block B, Amity University Madhya Pradesh.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Pro Chancellor Pro Chancellor Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd), Pro-VC and officiating VC Dr Anil Vashisht, Pro-VC (Research) Prof (Dr) M. P Kaushik, Registrar Mr Rajesh Jain, Deans, Directors, HoIs, HoDs, faculty, staff members and the students of AUMP. 
The celebration of 77th Independence Day encapsulated patriotism, hope, and gratitude for the privileges and rights enjoyed by the Indian citizens because of the sacrifices of the lives of freedom fighters of our country
Photographs of the faculty, staff and students of AUMP were clicked with the dignitaries to cherish the memories forever. Marking the culmination of the Independence Day programme at AUMP, sweets were distributed to all the Amitians on this auspicious occasion.
