Brahmanism and Buddhism - Exploring Continuity
The topic of today’s webinar "Brahmanism and Buddhism - Exploring Continuity" holds immense historical and philosophical significance. Brahmanism, rooted in Vedic traditions, provided the cultural and religious framework from which Buddhism emerged. Exploring continuity reveals how Buddhism, while challenging certain aspects of Brahmanism like ritualism and caste hierarchies, retained key ideas such as karma, dharma, and meditation. This continuity highlights a shared intellectual heritage that shaped Indian philosophy and influenced Southeast Asia and beyond. Understanding these connections deepens our appreciation of how spiritual traditions evolve, adapt, and interact over time, fostering dialogue about shared values and divergences in pursuit of wisdom and liberation. Dr Ashutosh Singh moderated the event which was to be hosted by Dr. Prof. Rahul Tripathi as Director, Amity School of Liberal Arts. The session was very informative for its participants and went a long way in enlightening them about the relationship between Brahmanism and Buddhism and how its ideas influence modern India.
