Field Visit to 18th Jaipur Literature Festival
Students of Amity School of Communication, AUR participated in the 18th Jaipur Literature Festival on 31st Jan, 2025. The field visit was an unforgettable learning experience for the students as it enhanced their knowledge by participating in the various insightful sessions of the reputed speakers as well as strengthened their hands-on journalistic skills through their interaction with them.
The students interacted with famous personalities like Tripti Pandey, the famous author and travel writer, RJ Jia from Red FM, Sunita Pant Bansal, the noted mythological author and Pushpesh Pant, host of Raja Rasoi and Anya Kahaniya, a famous food critic and historian. Students while taking the bytes, asked about the experiences of the speakers being a part of Jaipur Literature Festival and also about the journey of their lives. Tripti Pandey Ma’am expressed that the festival is always a special place for her as she loves poetry and literature, also stating about her forthcoming session. Sunita Pant Bansal Ma’am shared about the driving factor which inspired her to become a mythological author and she emphasised that the children of today should be aware of the traditional style of book writing resembling the “daadi-naani ki kahania”. Mr. Pushpesh Pant who hosted the session “Recipes of a Dalit Kitchen”, took the students down the memory lane while giving his byte talking about how he has been a witness to the festival growing with each new year. RJ Jia shared valuable career guidance tips with the aspiring students encouraging them to follow their passion with confidence. The students also met Sudha Murthy Ma’am, the noted Indian author, philanthropist, and social worker during the book signing session as well as Prajakta Koli, the famous Indian YouTuber, author and actress and Mr. Sanjoy Roy, the Managing Director of Teamwork Arts & Producer of JLF and got photographs clicked with them.
Students also attended the sessions of Mr. Kailash Kher, Ms. Prajakta Koli and Mr. Shahu Patole, the famous author. Mr. Kher shared the journey of his life in detail as to how he went from performing commercial jingles to becoming a well-known playback performer. Ms. Prajakta Koli took the stage to talk about her novel “Too Good to Be True”. Ms. Koli talked about her journey from creating digital material to becoming an author, highlighting how she actively blended several artistic disciplines, including writing and acting, into her work rather than just adapting. Mr. Shahu Patole discussed his book Dalit Kitchens of Marathwada, shedding light on the intersection of caste and cuisine in Maharashtra. The session focussed on the underrepresentation of Marathi food, the deep-rooted caste-based discrimination in culinary traditions, and the societal shame associated with Dalit food practices.
Few students also had memorable hands-on learning experience by participating as selected volunteers in the festival in revenue management area of the stalls as well coming up with their own stalls.
