Amity University inks MoU with Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (PCIM&H), Ministry of AYUSH
Amity University, Noida, and Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (PCIM&H), a subordinate office of the Ministry of AYUSH, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with an aim to collaborate on research, education, and training in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy (ASU&H) systems of medicine. The MoU was signed by the Officiating Registrar of Amity University and Dr. Raman Mohan Singh, Director of PCIM&H.
Dr. Raman Mohan Singh, Director of PCIM&H, averred, “This collaboration marks a significant step towards advancing research and education in the field of traditional medicine and contributing to the nation's healthcare goals. The partnership will focus on areas such as quality control, standardization, and evidence-based research in ASU&H drugs.” He also explained about the role of Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homeopathy for maintaining quality traditional medicines in the country.”
Highlighting the significance of the MoU, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “Amity University is honoured to partner with PCIM&H and this MoU promises to be a cornerstone in advancing our understanding of these ancient systems of medicine, with its focus on collaborative research in areas like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy medicines. We are confident that through joint efforts, we can achieve remarkable breakthroughs and contribute significantly to the nation's healthcare landscape."
Dr. A.K. Singh, Senior Vice President, AFSTIA, emphasized the crucial role of such partnerships in advancing research and development in traditional medicine systems. He stated, "This MoU will not only foster academic and research excellence but also marks a big step towards public-private partnership. The key objectives include fostering joint research projects, academic exchange programs, and capacity building initiatives."
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from both institutions, including Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President of Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Deputy Director General, AFSTIA, Dr. SC Verma, Principal Scientific Officer (Chemistry), PCIM&H; Dr. Jayanthy, Principal Scientific Officer (Pharmacognosy), PCIM&H; Dr. Vijay Gupta, Principal Scientific Officer (Ayurveda), PCIM&H; and Dr. Ramachandran S, Scientific Officer (Pharmacology), PCIM&H, the HOIs and scientists of Amity.
