Poster-making competition– on the theme "Transforming Gwalior as a Smart City: A Vision of Innovations and Sustainability”
Department of Civil Engineering, Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASET), Amity University Madhya Pradesh (AUMP), organized an engaging and intellectually stimulating Poster Competition on the theme “Transforming Gwalior as a Smart City: A Vision of Innovations and Sustainability” on 4th Dec & 5th Dec 2024. This event was held in the E – Block foyer. This event aimed to provide students with a platform to showcase their creative ideas and innovative solutions for transforming Gwalior into a sustainable and technologically advanced smart city. This competition not only highlighted the potential of smart cities but also served as a platform for students to explore and present their ideas for the future of Gwalior.
Registrations and Participation
A total of approximately 251 students from various branches and departments of the university registered for the preliminary round of the event. The participants came from diverse academic backgrounds, showcasing widespread interest across the university. After careful evaluation, 66 candidates were shortlisted for the final round on the second day.
Day 1: 04th Dec 2024
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Vimal Kumar Gupta, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at ASET, AUMP. Dr. Gupta emphasized the importance of sustainability, technology, and innovation in building future cities, encouraging students to think critically and creatively about the potential for urban transformation.
Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Thada, Director (Offg.) of AUMP, delivered the special address, highlighting the university’s commitment to fostering a forward-thinking mindset among students. He spoke about the vital role of interdisciplinary approaches and collaboration between academia, industry, and government in realizing the vision of smart cities.
Following this, the competition coordinator, Dr. P. Mahakavi, Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department, outlined the rules and guidelines for the competition. He explained the criteria for evaluation and encouraged participants to incorporate both innovative design and sustainable practices into their posters.
The first day of the Poster Competition, organized by the Department of Civil Engineering at Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASET), Amity University Madhya Pradesh (AUMP), was successfully conducted on December 4th, 2024. Day 2: 05th Dec 2024
The final day of the Poster Competition, organized by the Department of Civil Engineering at Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASET), Amity University Madhya Pradesh (AUMP), was successfully conducted on December 5th, 2024. The competition, themed “Transforming Gwalior as a Smart City: A Vision of Innovations and Sustainability,” brought together 66 shortlisted candidates who had excelled in the preliminary round held the previous day.
The event concluded with a sense of accomplishment, having provided a valuable platform for students to showcase their ideas and engage in critical discussions on smart city development. The successful organization of this event not only highlighted the students' talent but also reinforced the importance of innovation and sustainability in urban development.
The final day of the Poster Competition, held on December 5th, 2024, was judged by Ms. Vartika Saxena, Assistant Professor at Amity Law School, and Mr. Rajeev Prashar, Associate Professor at ASAP. They evaluated the posters based on creativity, innovation, and feasibility, providing valuable feedback on the participants' ideas for transforming Gwalior into a smart city.
