Amity Institute of Social Sciences organizes NGO Meet-2024

 Amity Institute of Social Sciences, Amity University Noida, organized NGO Meet-2024, with an objective to explore collaboration opportunities with the NGOs and encourage the students to undertake meaningful projects and participate in Community Engagement Programmes.

 Some of the NGOs which participated in the NGO Meet included Draupadi Trust, Each One Feed One, Social and Development Research & Action Group (SADRAG), Little Seeds, Spread Smile Foundation, Sunshine Society, Udayan Care, Umeed - A Drop Of Hope, Prajna Foundation, Posh Foundation, Prayas Children Home, Make A Difference, Jeevan Stambh Foundation, amongst many others.

 Highlighting the significance of collaborating with the NGOs, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor AUUP, averred, “Amity strongly believes in holistic development of students and collaborating with NGOs provides the students with an opportunity to develop their skills, and fosters community engagement, inculcating a sense of social responsibility amongst the students. Students can choose to work with an NGO, which will give them an opportunity to work for the betterment of the society.”

 Welcoming the NGO owners and representatives, Prof. (Dr.) Nirupama Prakash, Director, Amity Institute of Social Sciences, said, “Amity University has been offering courses on Human Values since 2014 which have been further upgraded based on UGC Quality Mandates as part of NEP 2020. AISS is offering 02 credit courses on Human Values & Community Outreach (HVCO) at Undergraduate level and 2 credit courses each on Social Responsibility & Community Engagement (SRCE) and Universal Human Values (UHV). Students can choose one of these courses at post graduate level, which are part of Outdoor Activity Based Course (OABC).”

 Sharing her views on the occasion, Ms. Habiba, a representative of the NGO “Each One Feed One”, said, “Our NGO works mainly for women in the areas of Education, health, Disaster Relief, ddomestic violence, mental health, legal matters and skill development. We are glad to collaborate with Amity, since we are always in search of genuine volunteers who can support our various initiatives and work with us for the upliftment of women.”

 On this occasion, the NGO owners presented an overview of their NGO and interacted with their respective Session Chairs including Dr. D.K Bandopadhyay, Chairman Amity Law School, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal, Additional Pro Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Dr. M. Sajnani, Dean, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, amongst others.
