Virtual Tour of Anganwadi
Department of Public Health, AMS organised a virtual tour for of Anganwadi centre for the benefit of the students. Due to the pandemic the students were deprived of field exposure and hence this event gave them an understanding regarding the ground realities of the government programs such as ICDS and it implementation challenges.
Dr. Arushi Mishra, the program coordinator introduced the speaker for the day, Ms Rekha who heads the centre and invited her to take the charge for conducting the virtual tour. The tour began with details of location and infrastructure being explained by Ms Rekha who heads the centre. She explained in detail the importance of play area and the educational material that has been given by the government for the benefit of 0-6 years kids.
She then addressed the students and told them the functioning and day to day activities regarding the ASHA workers, ANM and Anganwadi workers. The difference between the roles and responsibilities were explained to them as well. Various days such immunization day celebration, VHND and Family planning day was explained to the students and the mode of celebration was explained to them. The students then interacted with the speaker and the children regarding their experiences.
The tour also included the introduction of mid day meals that are given to the children. The kitchen area and the process of cooking the meals for children were also shown along with the packed foods that are being disbursed now due to the pandemic. The tour was followed by an exhaustive interactive session in which the students asked their doubts about the schemes, their implementation and the gaps and challenges of the same. Towards the end, Dr. Arushi Mishra thanked Ms Rekha for her generous session and imparting knowledge for our students.
