 Brief about the address/talk of speakers

FDP started at 10 am, Ms Amandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, ACON welcomed the participants and briefly addressed about the need of learning about First Aid in common emergencies. Dr A Tamil Selvi, Principal/HOI ACON inaugurated and unveiled the theme of World First Aid Day and addressed the participants on need  of learning techniques of providing  First Aid and duties of first aider. After lamp lightening, Ms Amandeep kaur, facilitated introduction of participants with each other First session delivered at 10.30 am by Dr Bhartender Sharma, Associate Professor, ACON on first aid of snake bite. He briefly explained about types of snake bites and roles of first aider to early reassure victim of snake bite. Ms Parul Saini, Assistant Professor, ACON took next session at 10.51 am on Chest Pain : Is it always Heart Attack? She clearly explained about how to distinguish a heart attack chest pain from other pain and explained about basic resuscitation of victim with heart attack. High tea followed by the session. Ms Shikha Gulia, Assistant Professor, ACON took session at 11.26 on Stroke/Brain attack, about how to rescue and provide first aid to a patient of stroke. Ms Amandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, ACON at 11.46 am took session on first aid of seizures, she briefly explained about myths and how to handle a patient with seizures. Ms Harneetpal Kaur, Tutor, ACON took session on first aid of burn at 12:10pm. She emphasized on types, causes of burns and their early management along with prevention. Ms Rose Mary George, Assistant Professor, ACON took the next session at 12:35pm on shock and bleeding and explained about how to control bleeding and provide first aid.  Lunch started from 1pm till 2pm in old library A Block. Ms Kusum, Tutor, ACON took the session at 2.01 pm on first aid in Fracture and explained about RICE management in fracture. Prof. (Dr) A Tamil Selvi took next session at 2:30pm on first aid to the victim of a Road Side Accident and explained about how to handle casualty at road site. She explained about first aid in head and spinal cord injury. Participants were shown a video on CPR technique and choking management by Ms. Amandeep kaur at 3:10pm. Participants were also given hands on training session and were made to practice on mannequins and upon themselves regarding how to give CPR, Heimlich manuever to a choking victim, how to support a fractured site with splint/sling, how to stop bleeding and do bandaging, how to give recovery position and how to transfer the patient to ambulance. Queries related to first aid techniques in different situation cleared by resource persons. Vote of thanks delivered for enthusiastic participation of participants. Feedback was taken by the participants using feedback form.  High tea followed at old library.

Feedback analysis- 90% of the total participants mentioned overall organization of the FDP and the sessions conducted as excellent; 97% of the total participants told the topic is relevant ; Refreshment , facilities and venue were marked excellent by 70% of the total participants ; and lastly 70 % of the participants mentioned time management as excellent and could be improved. Participants gave some subjective comments like wonderful program, interactive sessions, really informative, helpful, interesting , good learning experience and they highly recommend such programs.
