Prof. (Dr) K. Sudhir, James L Frank Professor of Private and Enterprise Management, Professor of Marketing and Director-Yale India China Insights Program, Yale University, USA delivered a talk on‘Big Data and Artificial Intelligence: Promise and Perils’ at Amity University Haryana at the glittering function of Prestigious Distinguished Global Indian Speaker Series on 26th July 2019.
In his talk, Prof. Sudhir talked about the fast pace changes in Artificial Intelligence Technology and its impact on day to day life. He said “Big Data is the fuel that powers Artificial Intelligence (AI), the engine. Databases are becoming increasingly versatile and powerful. ”
He simplified the entire concept by giving examples of Tesla and Amazon research projects which will further lead to ease of business and enhanced lives. He also emphasized on the role of Big Data to make evidence based decision making much easier and better in the era of uncertainty.
Prof. (Dr) P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, AUH emphasized the importance of data and shared numerous experiences of how long time back data had no relevance but today it is the need of the hour and has become more valuable for the coming generation.
Prof (Dr) Padmakali Banerjee, Pro Vice Chancellor AUH, spoke about the worldwide trend of interdisciplinary approach in research and education which blends social and behavioural sciences with Technology for implication and impact in this age of AI and Robotics. She further shared that AUH is offering electives and full time programmes in Data analysis, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics which caters to students’ interests and current demand for relevant job roles.
