Amity Institute of Clinical Psychology (AICP), Amity University Haryana, Gurgaon  organized  one day Virtual online programme on World Schizophrenia Day 25th May, 2021.

The concepts of schizophrenia were discussed which included contribution of Dr. Phillip Pinel, Etiology, Prevelance, First Rank Symptoms, Second Rank Symptoms, Theories of schizophrenia, CBT in psychosis, Behaviour Therapy, Group Therapy, Couple Therapy and Parental intervention etc. Subsequently, there was a debate whether COVID-19 has influenced the schizophrenia patient positively or negatively.

The main objective of the session was to provide practical learning to the trainees. The current situation was discussed in the light of social psychological perspective.  It was revealed that, if the patient has adequate social support, financial support, positive attitude and the proper treatment then the recovery from the illness is not impossible. The prevention strategies like sensitization, psychoeducation were discussed. The programme emphasized the role of practical and service oriented aspects in community. Dr. Vikas Sharma (Head), Dr. Mustafa Nadeem Kirmani (Associate Professor), Dr. Mehfooz Ahmed(Assistant Professor), Dr. Manpreet Ola (Assist Prof, Ms Nidhi (Assist. Prof) the faculties of AICP and M. Phil Clinical Psychology trainees participated in the programme. Dr. Mehfooz Ahmed was the coordinator of the program.

Total 16 students of M.Phil Participated in the session.
