Webinar on World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Day Celebration

Amity Centre of atmospheric science and technology organised virtual webinar on World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Day Celebration on 23rd March 2021 on the theme The Ocean, our Climate and Weather”,

The webinar was presided by Honorable Chancellor of AUH, Dr. Aseem K. Chauhan, who applauded the support of the MoES and IITM, Pune in fostering a new era of scientific research in air quality-health-climate interactions. 

Dr. Madhavan Nair Rajeevan, Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India was the Chief Guest and delivered a thought-provoking Inaugural Address.

More than 200 participants (Government Personnel, Teachers, Research Scholars, Students, Stake Holders and Policy Makers) took active part in the deliberations and interacted with the expert speakers. The most path-breaking topics covered in the Webinar include (i) Role of Oceans in Extreme Weather Events (ii) Ocean Circulation, Impacts on Earth System Models (iii) Role of Oceans in Monsoon Variability, (iv) Marine Biodiversity, Bioprospecting. (v) Marine Pollution/Marine Litter, (vi)   Ocean Acidification, (vi) Ocean Services, (vii) Education in Oceanography, (viii) Ocean Carbon Chemistry, (ix) Air-Land-Ocean Coupling, (x) Collaboration with MoES Institutions, (xi) Coastal versus Deep Ocean and (xii) Impact of Oceans on GDP and Green Economy. The response and outcome of the Webinar were outstanding and have attracted many researchers and educationists.  A Compendium, covering all the details of the speakers, highlights of the deliberations is being prepared.
