Nutrition Awareness Program: Malnutrition, Hygiene, Sanitation and Food Safety

The Department of Dietetics and Applied Nutrition, Amity Medical School, Amity University Haryana, organized an online Nutrition Awareness Program on 15th September, with an innovative idea to spread education among the communities on proper nutrition and feeding habits as a part of celebrating “Rashtriya POSHAN Maah 2020”.

The event was organized with an aim to provide knowledge about the importance of nutrients in growth and development by focusing on malnutrition as an issue prevailing in our society. The focus was on to educate the Aanganwadi workers about the easily available fruits which are cheap and nutritious. Examples of nutritious foods that can be taken to avoid malnutrition and deficiency of certain nutrients were also explained. The role and importance of Balanced Nutrition for welfare of family members was discussed in the presentation.

They were explained about importance of Nutrition and also about proper techniques of feeding. The entire presentation was written and presented in Hindi, so that they could understand each and every sentence easily. After completion of the presentation, Ms. Jublee Malakar recited a poem based on nutrition and its importance. A video on the essential nutritive requirements was played thereafter that summed up the whole idea of spreading knowledge about the balanced food intake.

The session was concluded with a valuable and informative talk and by Dr. Luxita Sharma, Head of the Department and organizer of this initiative who explained the importance of nutrients and their adequate intake.
