Amity Institute of Biotechnology organized the JAM session: The Biological invention/discovery that changed the world on 24th September 2020.

E-JAM Session (“The Biological Invention/Discovery that changed the World”) is a new event introduced in the Innovation Week celebration 2020. Due to the COVID pandemic the entire event was organized on a virtual platform. This event was organized to appreciate the wonders taking place in the field of science and technology. Through this program, students can increase their knowledge of ongoing inventions as well as appreciate the discoveries of the past which allowed the world to progress to the stage it is at today.

The objective of the event was to celebrate innovations which have had a deep impact on our world. The JAM Session opened with Dr. Gargi Bagchi welcoming the faculty and students to the event, which kickstarts Innovation week. The participants were then called on to talk about the biological discovery they feel had greatly impacted the world. Students spoke on various topics like COVID-19 Test kits, antibiotics, induced pluripotent stem cells, gene therapy, CRISPR Cas 9, artificial pancreas, and DNA Fingerprinting. Each participant spoke for three minutes and gave a general introduction of their topic as well as the reason they felt that particular discovery was important for the human race. They also spoke about what developments could take place in the future regarding these biological inventions. Innovation Day celebrates the birthday of our esteemed Chancellor, Dr. Aseem Chauhan. Dr. Gargi encouraged students to come up with numerous brilliants ideas Student coordinators: Nikita Panicker and Peehu Mittal.
