Amity University Gurugram organized a two days conference on Criminal Justice System: National and International Perspectives. The event was graced by Prof Dr Upendra Baxi, Mr Sudhir Chowdhary (Former DGP, Haryana), Maj. Rajneesh Bansal (Add. District & Sessions Judge, Ambala, Haryana), Brig. Janesh Kumar Khera (Retd.), (Advocate, Punjab & Haryana High Court).

The conference was divided into four technical themes Theme 1: Criminal Justice Administration Theme 2: Reforms in Criminal Law on the Touchstone of Constitutional Provisions, Theme 3: Human rights in context of Criminal Justice and Theme 4: Efficacy of Criminal Justice System to Curb Corporate Crimes. 

Prof Upendra Baxi while speaking about Human Rights, said he has coined a term Huper Rights which is gender neutral, human has man and person has son.’

There is no perfect criminal justice system in any country. As law students your task is to work towards creating a good system. There should be concern for poor and then only criminal justice system can improve, Prof Baxi added.   

While addressing the delegates and participants Prof (Dr.) P B Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Gurugram said, ‘We should follow zero tolerance policy against crimes. We need to be serious and treat those people who are crippling our society and damaging our environment as criminals also.’

Prof Padmakali Banerjee, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Gurugram discussed the significance of a sound Criminal Justice System in democratic setup of a Nation. She said that Research and Innovation is deeply imbibed in Amity University, as a result of which it follows a multidisciplinary approach of learning. She appreciated the theme of the International Conference and wished luck to all the Participants.

The Conference Proceedings and the Special volume of Lex Revolution, containing selected Articles of 2nd International Conference, were then released by the Chief Guest and Dignitaries on the Dais.
