Sports Club of Amity University Gurugram organized three day ‘Amity Sports Fest’ at its campus from 8th April to 10th April 2019. Around 30 teams participated in the fest from Delhi/NCR, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh (Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, Amity University Jaipur, Maharishi Dayanand University Rohtak, Indraprastha University etc).
The sports fest includes three games i.e Volley Ball, Basketball and Football. All three games had total number of participations of around 19 colleges/universities from four different states.
Amity Basketball team won the first prize and second prize was grabbed by the DU alumni team in basketball tournament.
Amity Basketball team grabbed the First Prize in Volleyball and second prize was grabbed by Jamia Millia Islamia.
Dronacharya College won the first prize and second prize was grabbed by Amity Football team in football event.
Shri Ravinder, Former Captain Indian Basketball Team was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Maj Gen B S Suhag (Retd), Deputy Vice Chancellor and Maj Gen G S Bal (Retd), DSW along with Hansraj Phalswal, Sports Manager and Dr Gurpreet Makkar also graced the closing ceremony and gave trophies & medals to the winners.
Shri Ravinder Singh while addressing the winners said, “Team games built your leadership quality and enhance your confidence to be better human being. You have to work really hard to be a champion.”
While addressing the gathering Maj. Gen. G S Bal (Retd.), DSW, Amity University Haryana stated that participating in sports promotes character building. It is essential that students must participate whole heartedly in games to develop qualities of team work, camaraderie and discipline.
Mr Hansraj Phalswal, Sports Manager, Amity University Gurugram while addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of sports fest said, “Sports teaches you discipline and team work. It helps you in becoming a better leader.”
