Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was organised by ASAP on 14th August 2026. The faculty address encouraged students to reflect on the importance of peace, unity, compassion, tolerance and mutual respect while learning from the experiences of those affected.

The aim of the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day observance was to sensitise students to the historical significance and profound human consequences of the Partition of India in 1947. The session aimed to foster empathy and reflection on the experiences of those who lost their lives, homes and livelihoods, while reinforcing the values of peace, unity, tolerance, compassion and mutual respect. It also sought to encourage students to understand the consequences of communal violence and displacement and to promote responsible citizenship and social harmony.

The Partition Horrors Remembrance Day observance successfully sensitised students to the human suffering, displacement, separation and loss associated with the Partition of 1947. The two-minute silence provided a solemn opportunity to pay tribute to the victims and affected families. Overall, the observance deepened students’ understanding of Partition as a profound human experience and reinforced the importance of empathy, social harmony and responsible citizenship in contemporary society.
