A Panel Discussion by AIB on July 8th, 2024

Amity Institute of Biotechnology organised a panel discussion on “Air and water pollution in India: Health risks and strategic remedies”, on July 8, 2024. By identifying the key problems and exploring viable solutions, this initiative sought to develop comprehensive strategies to mitigate pollution and improve health outcomes.

The aim of the discussion and subsequent collaboration was to address the significant impact of pollution on public health in India, as highlighted by the Lancet report, which indicated a reduction of ten years in life expectancy due to environmental pollution. Additionally, the insights gained could help in formulating strong collaborative grant proposals for further research and intervention programs.

The panel discussion brought together experts to deliberate on potential solutions to India's pollution crisis. Key takeaways included reducing resource misuse, finding cleaner energy alternatives, and adopting strict measures against pollutants to prevent bioaccumulation. The panel also emphasized returning to sustainable practices like increased physical activity, material reuse, and eliminating plastic bottles.
