'Awareness Week on Waste Management" was observed from 14th to 20th November, 2022, by the Chem Club of CBFS at Amity School of Applied Sciences. For the development of sustainable and liveable cities, waste management is crucial, but it is still difficult in many developing nations and cities, including India. Negligent waste management can even encourage urban violence by acting as a breeding ground for disease-carrying organisms and a source of methane, which is a greenhouse gas. Running this crucial municipal function requires integrated systems that are effective, long-lasting, and supported by society. The goal of the event was to encourage students to engage in various cleaning initiatives and be physically active.
Amity Chem Club arranged the online event, which was focused on waste management. They held a poster-making competition with the subjects of electronic trash, life cycle assessment, and demolition waste management on November 15 and 16, 2022. Students that wanted to create posters used a few common poster templates. There are two posters in the collection. Online technology was used for the judging. Prof. Seema R. Pathak, Dr. G.K. Rao, Dr. C.M. Srivastava, and Dr. Anirban das are present at the meeting. The degree to which the poster is connected to the subjects was taken into consideration by the judges along with inventiveness and references. In all, 6 teams took part in this competition. Shelly & Varsha are the members of the winning team.
On November 17, 2022, a play entitled "Banjar Jamin Ki Kheti" was performed. The concept and the team members were introduced before the event got underway. The setting for the story was a little town where the residents had no idea how to use their cooking garbage. The focus of the entire narrative was on one family and four villagers. Eventually, in this scenario, Madhav's daughter arrived from the city and relayed to him and the other villagers what must have unfolded. The management of kitchen garbage was demonstrated in this drama. It also demonstrated how garbage is handled and how it may be turned into beneficial fertiliser for fields. There were 70 students in total, 10 faculty members, 10 volunteers, and 10 actors in the audience. Everyone appreciated the play since it was generally entertaining and emphasised the importance of waste management awareness.
Waste management was the topic of a Google form that was developed for November 18, 2022. Via this form, we educated people about trash management and assessed their management expertise. We questioned trash management and associated topics. After completing the questionnaire, the participant realised how much they knew about waste management. We also supplied information to help people grasp the details of the waste management perspective along with the questionnaire.
On November 22, 2022, a case study presentation on trash management was given. Presentation served as the event's kickoff. The waste management issues of landfilling, composting, incineration, plastic waste management, and trash compaction were discussed by each group of two applicants. Participants told tales that were relevant to our prospect's circumstance. Everyone learned about numerous solutions to the waste management issues as a consequence. Everyone learned about the critical problem of trash management. On the basis of the provided criteria, a review committee led by a faculty coordinator chose the best presentation
The effort put out by the event motivated the kids to engage in other cleaning initiatives and engage in physical activity. Students picked up and comprehended cognitive abilities. They gain self-assurance, learn to link their knowledge to reality, and collaborate with others.
