Amity University Gurugram organized Counselor Workshop on shaping young minds into shining stars prepare youth for tomorrow on 31st March 2021 between 12:00 – 2:00 pm.
The objective of this workshop was to enable school counselors to prepare today’s youth for tomorrow’s careers. Choosing a career is not a one-size-fits-all proposition. It is therefore important for students to explore the many career opportunities available so to enable them to make informed career decisions. Apart from career planning through assessment, we understand that next challenge that teacher’s faces are information related industry, emerging career tracks, evolving industry trends.
The presentation was moderated by Mr. Sachin Juneja- Director Market Promotions department. He stated the objective of Workshop and introduced the esteemed panelist/subject experts.
The workshop was started with presentation on ‘Emerging Career Opportunities in Science and Engineering’ by Mr. Vivek Birla, Assistant Professor, Amity School of engineering and technology, touched, all the aspects of engineering and also introduced emerging career options for Non-Medical students. He emphasis on the vital role to IT and technology in all the sectors of Industries with examples of Mechatronics, Fintech etc.He also guided about the new courses with high demand in job market like IoT, Data Science, Cyber Forensic, Nano-Technology etc.
Ms. Richa Singh, Assistant Professor, Amity Medical School, explained different career options for Medical students other than MBBS. She said besides MBBS, there are plenty of good options Biology students can choose from for a better career in the field of medicine.There are many other courses in medical sciences aspirants can choose from and they don’t need to qualify NEET exam as well. Branches like allied medical sciences, Paramedical sciences are some good options aspirants with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in class 12 can opt.Courses such as Optometry, Bachelor in Dietetics & applied nutrition, Speech Language Pathology, Nursing, B.Pharma, Stem Cell Technology, Medical Lab technology can also be opted .
Dr. Rumki Bandhyopadhyay, Associate, Amity Business School, enlightened the participants with career options available for commerce and arts students. In her presentation she more emphasized on the skills required for a successful career. She also guided School teachers and counselors how to address the issues and confusions of Students related to their career and moreover selection of right course. She also explained the importance of Certification courses to enhance the skills of students and make them industry ready.
Mr. Sachin Juneja, Director Market Promotions given a detailed presentation about Amity Group and about Amity University Gurugram He highlighted the unique features of Amity University like Choice based credit system, Free foreign language program, Military training, Mentor Mentee concept, Corporate Connects etcHe also provided the information about the extensive research work happening in different departments of University. In the last of his presentation he showcases the excellent placement record of University students.
After presentations, panel discussion was moderated by Mr. Sachin Juneja. Questions raised by participants during presentations, were taken in Q&A session.
