Amity School of Hospitality, Amity University Haryana, Gurugram Organized Online Lecture on The New Trend of Housekeeping : Aesthetically Clean to Clinically Clean by Ms. Sharda Sharma – Executive Housekeeper, Radisson Blu Plaza, New Delhi. More than 80 students participated in the event.
The main aim is to provide education about cleanliness not only from the micro dust particles but also from the harmful micro organisms like virus, bacteria etc. in daily routine.
Ms. Sharda Sharma – Executive Housekeeper, Radisson Blu Plaza, New Delhi delivered her session on How hotel performs a crucial role in keeping the environment sanitised, they are frontline staff as far as fighting the Covid-19 pandemic is concerned. She clarified that the cleaning time will get extended because more care will have to be taken for quality cleaning. Some areas of the room, which were not much cared about in cleaning before the corona pandemic will now be part of a new and strict sanitation protocol.
The cleaning time of the checked-out rooms will also increase in order to lower the risks of a possible contagion of the new guests. All the cleaning products available must guarantee a full disinfection & sustained cleaning.
The use of appropriate means of protection for the cleaning staff, their number and replacement will also matter a lot. For example, the safety gloves that room attendant’s use for cleaning all the rooms assigned to him/her on one floor must be disposed off after accomplishment of cleaning, She explained
The students learnt about the new prevailing trends in hotel housekeeping like ensuring pest control along with regular deep cleaning of each & every room on daily basis, wearing high quality face-masks, gloves, caps, shoe-covers & PPE kit by room attendants throughout the working hours, disposing soiled linen & garbage in ultra hygienic way, training the housekeeping staff to use chemicals & disinfectants correctly & safely etc.
