event

Ms Rekha Sharma, Chairperson, National Commission for Women discuss many issues on women safety

Amity Law School Organised Webinar on Safety of Women with Rising Cyber Crimes. The main objective of this Webinar is to equip and enlighten the Participants about the crucial issue of the Safety of Women with rising Cyber Crimes. The Session’s aim was to create awareness about the current issues faced by women, the development of regulatory instruments, statutes, guidelines, etc, to protect the privacy and related interests of women in Cyberspace.

Ms Rekha Sharma, Chairperson, National Commission for Women discuss many issues being dealt with by the Commission, with Cyber Crime complaints being on the rise. She mentioned that women are constantly subjected to crimes like Female Foeticide, Child Marriage, Dowry Harassment, Domestic Violence, Acid Attack, Sexual Offences, Honour Killing, Prostitution, Trafficking, Cyber Crime, etc. Considering the vulnerable nature of women, these disturbing trends of crimes against women have spurred worldwide action.

Crimes of any nature are reported every two minutes. Women are victimized from the womb to the tomb. In furtherance of this, time and again many laws are enacted to curb crimes against women and assure them a safe environment to live their life with dignity. However, the core concern is the implementation of these laws. Though crimes against women are on the rise in all fields, being a victim of Cyber Crime could be the most traumatic experience for a woman.

The online event received fabulous response from all over India and was attended by approx 350 Participants.
