Amity School of Earth and Environmental Sciences & Institute Innovation Council, Amity University Gurugram celebrated National Pollution Control Day on 2 December 2021 by organizing an online webinar with eminent Keynote Speaker Dr. B K Sahu, Regional Manager and Head, NRDC - Intellectual Property and Innovation Centre, Innovation Valley, Vishakhapatnam, GoI on Innovation Strategy for Universities to Create Opportunities of Entrepreneurship in Mitigating Environmental Issues.
The main objective of the event was to inspire young minds and ignite the spark of research and innovation in emerging scientists, faculty and students on National Pollution Control Day.
Dr. B K Sahu, Regional Manager & Head, NRDC - Intellectual Property and Innovation Centre, Innovation Valley, Vishakhapatnam, Government of India emphasized on the importance for India to lead in the global innovation and move forward. India should collaborate with the other countries which are way ahead in the global innovation index. He told us how big companies started with nothing but only innovative ideas and now they are successful. He cited Major Challenges such as
- Reduce poverty
- To maintain a standard of living
- Protect Environment
- Hunger
He discussed about India’s successful map in Innovation with a global goals to attain:
- No Poverty
- No Hunger
- Good health Quality Education
- Gender Equality
- Peace and justice
- Protect the Planet.
Afterwards he discussed about the paradigm shift towards Innovation. Dr. Sahu also discussed about the future of IPR’s in India by throwing light upon IPR benefits including stringer enforcement and convincing Indians that National interest will not be compromised. He mentioned that MSME sector can help for achieving the target of Nation Manufacturing Policy that manufacturing should contribute to 25% in India’s GDP by 2022.
He further shared that India is focusing on experience-based learning; we are nurturing thousands of Atal Tinkering Labs and building strong startup ecosystems.
The session then moved towards Q&A session wherein students asked about their doubts and were well answered by our respected Keynote Speaker. Total 462 students and 8 faculties attended the session.
