Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University Haryana organized a workshop based on Gender Equality todays for a sustainable tomorrow from 2nd March to 6th March 2022.
Gender inequality still exists in India within the households, workplaces and in larger society.
Educating a boy is seen as an investment as they are expected to earn and provide for their ageing parents. Whereas, an educated girl will have a higher dowry expense because they need an educated partner. It is also believed to be a waste of resources to educate a girl child as she will eventually get married and be a homemaker. If a family cannot afford to educate all their children, the male child will get preference.
Amity School of Fine Art organized Gender Equality: Painting Workshop on the accusation of Women’s Day. The theme painting for International Women’s Day, 8 March, 2022 (IWD 2022) is, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, The arts are a crucial mechanism whereby identities are formed and performed, and hence are an important vehicle whereby gender stereotyping can both be reinforced, and disrupted, with arts projects exploring different ways of being a man or a woman, or indeed disrupting the notion that one must be either.
The faculties of ASFA expressed finely the theme of workshop on their canvas. Mr. Vinod (Faculty) denote through the painting Mr. Vinod denote through the painting that gender equality is not a ‘women’s issue’ but affects both women and men, as it is rooted in the relationship between the two. Both women and men have to change their ways of working, attitudes and social norms, to ensure both are equal, empowered and dignified. Other faculty shown the different views I their paintings.
