Amity University has included research ethics in the research methodology coursework wherein it is mandatory for all Ph.D. scholars to undertake a minimum of 14 credit units of Pre-Ph.D. Course Work, as shown below:
1.Compulsory Courses:
(a) Research Methodology: 4 credits
(b) Quantitative Techniques: 4 credits
(c) Research and Publication Ethics (RPE): 2 credits
2. Area Specific (4 Credits)
The classes of Pre-Ph.D Course Work for “Research Methodology (RM)” and “Quantitative Techniques (QT)” is conducted by the concerned Faculty Research Committee (FRC) while the classes of Research and Publication Ethics (RPE) is conducted centrally at University level by senior members.
The University has constituted the following committees to review and approve all types of research proposals involving human, animal participants as well as issues related to Biosafety & Stem cell research.

- c) The University makes it mandatory for all faculty, researchers & students to adhere to the policy of academic malpractice and plagiarism and strives to use best tools and practices to identify and check academic malpractice and plagiarism.
- In order to ensure academic integrity, check malpractices and plagiarism, the University follows a Policy Guidelines for Plagiarism Prevention that all research material originating from Amity should be original and not plagiarized from any source. These guidelines shall apply to all Faculty members, Staff, Research fellows, Ph.D Scholars and students before they publish any research work with Amity University affiliation.
- To ensure the same, all research materials to be sent for publication, are checked for originality using “Turnitin/ Drill bit plagiarism software” which is a leading academic plagiarism detection software. As per the University policy, the Ph.D. Theses of scholars are being checked by the Turnitin Software, prior to acceptance for evaluation.
- The Head of the Institution is to ensure that no thesis is submitted by the scholar without a Plagiarism check. in case a scholar is found adopting or suspected of adopting unfair means or lifting of other's work andinserting it in his/her work without proper acknowledgment, credit and reference, penal action is taken by the University.
- The concerned guide is required to submit a certificate, mentioning that the thesis of scholar has been checked by Turnitin software. The plagiarism report is provided for verification and records by Departmental Research Committee.
- The same policy is followed for the faculty members to check malpractices and plagiarism in research.
Since the University makes use of the software for all research-related material before it is published, only a few such cases alleging plagiarism has been reported and appropriate action has been taken.
