Amity Gurugram Marathon Gets Bigger With Over 20,000 Running Enthusiasts This Year

THE AMITY GURUGRAM MARATHON ENCOURAGES RUNNERS ACROSS 30 NATIONALITEIES TO PROMOTE A FIT AND HEALTHLY LIFESTYLE

The enthusiasm and energy ran high on Sunday morning with over thousands of runners set off the marathon trail from Leisure Valley, sector 29. Gurugram. The seventh edition of the Amity Gurguram Marathon witnessed around 20,000 running enthusiasts from 30 nationalities. Organized by Amity University Gurugram every year and is one of the biggest marathons in the National Capital Region. It is accredited by the Athletic Federation of India.

Amity Gurguram Marathon this year saw participants right from corporate honchos, renowned International runners, CEO’s, Doctors to professional athletes and kids running for healthier and fitter life.  The runners took part in six different formats for all age groups - full marathon, half marathon, timed 10k and 5k, 5km senior citizen run and 5km kids run.

While addressing the huge gathering, Chancellor of Amity University, Dr. Aseem Chauhan motivated the participants and said, “It is great to see thousands of people from different walks of life participating for better health and fitness. Running is not just about physical stamina and controlling stress but it also boosts the body’s ability to deal with existing mental tension. This Marathon not just encourages diversity, fitness and holistic development but also helps in creating a positive impact through raising awareness on pressing issues such as environment pollution, women empowerment, illiteracy and citizen’s safety”.

This is yet another initiative by Amity University towards nation building through sports. Other unique endeavors include being the official University Partner of the Indian Olympic Contingent to Rio, official Training Partners of the XIX Commonwealth Games, Official University Partners of IPL, ISL & IPTL & Amity Polo & Golf Tournaments amongst others.

Some eminent names at the Marathon included Mrs Divya Chauhan and MrAmol Chauhan and Prof. (Dr.) P B Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Gurgaon amongst police officials, eminent doctors and thousands of people present.

The first position for 42.2. Km in male category was won by MIKIYAS YEMATA LEMLEMU from Ethopia clocked at 2:27:01 timing, second position was won by Pan Kimeli-Cheptoo from Kenya with a timing of 2:27:35 and third position was won by John Kipkorir- Rutto from Kenya finishing at 2:30:25. 

And in female full Marathon category Elizabeth from Kenya walked away with the gold medal, (timing 3:01:31) DIVYANKA CHAUDHARY from Haryana won the silver medal (timing 3:06:00) and Prita Rani from Haryana was the bronze medal winner at a timing of 3:27:58. They clocked 2 hours: 00 minutes to finish the full marathon (42.2km).

The winners of the half Marathon (Male Catergory) was won by BrimalHpruto clocked at 1:09:03 from Kenya, second position was won by GeofryKiprop Kenya at 1:09:16 and the third position was won by Robin Singh, Haryana clocked at 1:11:44. 

Respectively in female category (Half Marathon) MoikaAthare from Maharashtra clocked at 1:22:49 taking the first position (gold medal), Anita from Haryana clocked at 1:25:13, winning the bronze medal and Pooja from New Delhi won the bronze prize finishing at 1:33:33

Amity Gurugram marathon is one of the largest marathon’s in Delhi NCR region organized by Amity Education Group in Gurugram every year.

With more than 20,000 participation & athletes from more than 20 countries in the last edition, the marathon is marching towards becoming one of the top marathons in India & an event of international repute. Approved by The Athletics Federation of India (AFI), an apex body in Athletics in India, AGM sees participation from Corporates, RWAs, Fitness groups, students, Government officials, Foreign Diplomats, Social organizations in large numbers across all the running categories i.e. Full Marathon 42.2KM, Half Marathon 21.1KM, 10 KM Run, 5 KM run, 5 km Kid’s Run and 5 km Senior Citizen Run.

Amity Gurugram Marathon previous editions have witnessed participation in large numbers from all age groups & countries and has placed itself as one of the top Marathon events of the country. This Popular Marathon in Gurugram aims to create a stronger ecosystem of socially conscious individuals & identities along with the awareness for Fitness & Health.
